York School District 1 Increases Traumatic Injury Preparedness with Tramedikits™

York School District 1 Tramedic® Trauma Kit Initiative

Ranked as one of the best public school districts in South Carolina this past year, York School District 1 is making emergency preparedness a top priority by empowering staff with Tramedic® trauma kits. The district’s project was kickstarted when they received Tramedic® Bleeding Control Kits from the statewide Stop the Bleed initiative in the fall of 2018. Following the initial implementation, the district has installed another 365 Tramedikits™ to outfit classrooms and common spaces in their facilities.

Wisconsin Schools Empowered to Save Lives with Tramedic®

In 2017, regional trauma systems throughout Wisconsin began the conversation about supporting the Stop the Bleed initiative in the state. Then on October 1st, 2017 the mass shooting in Las Vegas occurred. After the shooting, the regional trauma systems knew something had to be done. Together, regional partners embarked on the project to educate point of care providers to save lives when and where first responders are not readily available. Read more

The Importance of Trauma Awareness

May was National Trauma Awareness Month, but we focus on trauma year-round.

 

This year’s major effort for the American Trauma Society is the nation-wide Stop the Bleed Campaign. Stop the Bleed was developed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to empower individuals with the appropriate knowledge so anyone can act quickly and save lives in an emergency situation. Uncontrolled bleeding injuries can occur from a wide variety of sources such as natural and man-made disasters to everyday accidents at home. Read more

According to statistics from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, there were 160 active shooter incidents between 2000 and 2013, with the frequency of incidents increasing annually.
